Formulator at Nutreco

• The purpose of the position is to ensure accuracy of formulation and for producing of multi-species premix and farm mineral formulations and their required labelling.
• Working within a set time frame, and high accuracy and attention to detail are key requirements of the role.
• This role also involves regular interaction and collaboration with the company’s team of animal nutritionists & formulators as well as other internal departments and customers.
• Excellent communication, organizational skills, a team spirited approach and ability to multi-task are all key pre-requisites for the job.
• This role will encompass all aspects of formulation including legislation and labelling.
• The responsibilities include interpretation of raw material specifications to ensure accuracy and efficiency of products, management of live products and involvement in new product development to meet customer needs.
• This role is part of the Technical Department and reports to the Technical Manager.

Job Description:

• The Formulator manages and optimizes the standard recipes for production, based on the nutritional and physical quality needs of the OpCo and market. He / she arranges various inputs, such as logistical constraints, production requirements, physical quality, raw material quality, raw material prices and nutritional requirements into an efficient premix output for the production.
• At an advanced level, The Formulator understands nutritional concepts standards and uses this knowledge to compile products that maximize animal health and performance and assures timely reformulation to meet nutrient and ingredient specifications with raw materials available at the manufacturing location. He / She provides formulation services for product customization and support technical services and marketing in product development.

What are you going to do:

• Use premix formulation software to design premix or farm minerals in accordance with customer requirements or nutritionist/team lead advice for new or existing products.
• Providing instructions to production per formula for labelling, packaging, production sequence following the pre-agreed principles of sales and Nutritionist
• Assist in cost calculations for customized solutions.
• Act as liaison between technical, operations and quality departments.
• Providing support in nutrition to the marketing, technical and sales employees
• Contributing to product development by assisting nutritionist in introducing new feed concepts
• Collaborate in quality control, analysis and interpretation of trial data and preparations of final reports
• Assists in developing protocols, preparation of data and presentation of final reports in collaboration with nutritionist
• Advise on complete portfolio of product and service offerings (premix solutions, applicable feed additives, young animal feed concept, and customer analysis services) for existing and new customers with support of nutritionists or team leads.
