Qualifications and experience: 

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration or equivalent
• 5 + years of senior management or leadership experience

Associated Tasks

• Achieve regional goals and revenue targets
• Ensure compliance to customs and SARS requirements
• Oversee daily operations and management of regional budget and costs.
• Ensure collaboration and synergies between operations and commercial teams in the region
• Engage regularly and meet with key customers for the region
• Drive commercially focused business vision for the region
• Develop performance objectives for the regional team in line with national targets.
• Liaise with external stakeholders, rail & ports to ensure an effective and efficient supply chain.
• Prepare, analyze and present monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
• Develop a culture of operational excellence and ensure it’s embedded in the region.
• Ensure customer service requirements are met and exceeded
• Ensure a safe operating environment for all staff in the region.
• Design regional strategy and set goals for growth

Competencies and skills: 

• Strategic management competencies to shape and refocus the business for growth.
• Understand key business financial drivers and interpretation of key indices.
• Communication - Ability to interact with internal and external stakeholders at all levels (senior customer and staff/management)
• Ability to negotiation with trade unions/ shop stewards on substantive / IR matters to ensure business stability.

Functional Knowledge

• General management - with +- 5 years’ proven experience at senior management level.
• Commercial and Operational experience in warehousing, supply chain, logistics and refined metal exports in Africa.
• Commercially astute senior manager with experience in commodity exports/imports, refined metals, FMCG and supply chain in Africa.
• Proven record of accomplishment in improving business results and performance.
