RPO Recruitment's client, a leading and reputable engineering consulting firm in South Africa is currently seeking a qualified and experienced Geometric Design Engineer to join their roads department in Cape Town as soon as possible.
Responsibilities:
Lead and execute the geometric design of roads and transport infrastructure projects in accordance with SANRAL, provincial, and municipal standards
Prepare concept, preliminary, and detailed geometric design using Autodesk Civil 3D
Oversee and review horizontal and vertical alignments, cross-sections, intersections, and corridor modelling
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including traffic, pavement, drainage, and structural engineers
Perform and review design calculations, cost estimates, BOQs, and design reports
Conduct quality control reviews and ensure designs meet project and statutory requirements
Provide technical support to project managers and mentor junior engineers and technicians
Attend site meetings, inspections, and client engagements as required
Requirements:
BEng/BSc or BTech in Civil Engineering
Registered with ECSA as a Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng
Minimum of 12 years' experience, with at least 5 years' post-registration in a consulting environment
Proficient in Autodesk Civil 3D for road and geometric design (essential)
Demonstrated experience in the design and delivery of projects valued at R100 million or more
Thorough knowledge of relevant design standards and codes (e.g., TMH, TRH series, SANRAL requirements)
Strong understanding of geometric design principles, including road classifications, design speeds, sight distances, and safety considerations.
Excellent communication, report writing, and coordination skills
