    Geometric Design Engineer - Consulting Industry

    Job Description

    • RPO Recruitment's client, a leading and reputable engineering consulting firm in South Africa is currently seeking a qualified and experienced Geometric Design Engineer to join their roads department in Cape Town as soon as possible.

    Responsibilities:

    • Lead and execute the geometric design of roads and transport infrastructure projects in accordance with SANRAL, provincial, and municipal standards
    • Prepare concept, preliminary, and detailed geometric design using Autodesk Civil 3D
    • Oversee and review horizontal and vertical alignments, cross-sections, intersections, and corridor modelling
    • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including traffic, pavement, drainage, and structural engineers
    • Perform and review design calculations, cost estimates, BOQs, and design reports
    • Conduct quality control reviews and ensure designs meet project and statutory requirements
    • Provide technical support to project managers and mentor junior engineers and technicians
    • Attend site meetings, inspections, and client engagements as required

    Requirements:

    • BEng/BSc or BTech in Civil Engineering
    • Registered with ECSA as a Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng
    • Minimum of 12 years' experience, with at least 5 years' post-registration in a consulting environment
    • Proficient in Autodesk Civil 3D for road and geometric design (essential)
    • Demonstrated experience in the design and delivery of projects valued at R100 million or more
    • Thorough knowledge of relevant design standards and codes (e.g., TMH, TRH series, SANRAL requirements)
    • Strong understanding of geometric design principles, including road classifications, design speeds, sight distances, and safety considerations.
