Group Accountant at Ignition Group

The Group Accountant will be responsible for running the accounting and financial activities of the Ignition Group. The detail:

Team Management

• Manage employees of the Group Financial Control Department.
• Provide technical, procedural and policy guidance to the Group.
• Recruit and hire employees for the Group Financial Control department.
• Handle labour relations issues (e.g. disciplinary hearings).
• Assign, monitor, and coordinate assignments (plan and organise work).
• Determine training needs and identify training courses for direct reports.
• Career development for direct reports (counselling, coaching, identify KPA’s, career planning, goal setting).
• Evaluate the performance of professional employees (conduct performance appraisals).

Audits

• Co-ordinate the Group annual audit.

BBBEE

• Co-ordinate the annual Group BBBEE audit, review and validate recommendations.

Budget

• Co-ordinate the subsidiary budget process.
• Consolidate the subsidiary budgets into the Group Budget and prepare the Group Budget pack.

Financial Year End

• Prepare the Group annual financial statements including all relevant IFRS disclosures and compliance.
• Prepare the Group consolidation pack detailing the consolidation workings
• Prepare current and deferred tax computations.

Reporting and Analysis

• Analyse and interpret financial data and recommend changes to improve systems and financial performance.
• Assess financial components (e.g. revenue, expense, operating income and expenses, net income, capex and cash flows) of all Departments.
• Identify the financial impact on overall profit and communicate risks and recommendations to the Financial Controllers.
• Direct projects and recommend process improvements within Finance in respect of system development in order to automate reporting and repetitive tasks.

Monthly Accounting Practices

• Direct budget and cost controls, financial analysis and accounting practices and reports.
• Ensure monthly payments are made timeously. Includes ensuring payments are made to suppliers based on requisitions.
• Ensure all month-end closure activities are carried out timeously and correctly. Includes ensuring that the correct procedures are followed, and inter-company eliminations are balanced.
• Completion of the Group Financial Exco pack.
• Completion of the Group Financial Shareholder pack.
• Co-ordinate the quarterly DTI audit; completion of the DTI site and claim documentation.

Group Treasury

• Completion and reconciliation of Group Cash Flow forecasting – weekly and monthly.

Adhoc

• Perform any other related duties as requested.

Are you this person? 

• Are you a qualified Chartered Accountant registered with an appropriate, recognized professional body? 
• Do you have 2-3 years commercial experience, including management experience? 
• Do you have Pastel experience preferable? 
• Do you have TM-1 experience (advantageous)?
