Group Indirect Tax Manager at AECI Limited

Job Description

• In-depth knowledge of Value-Added Tax Act and Tax Administration
• Interpret facts and apply legislation, case law, interpretation Notes, Rulings,etc.
• Advise on VAT effects of complex transactions across the various jurisdictions that AECI operates
• Prepare clear, sound, accurate reports and opinions containing findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
• A good understanding of related tax legislation that impacts VAT such as Income Tax Act and Customs and Excise Act
• Manage a range of VAT & Customs assignments
• Conduct reviews and provide support as part of external and internal audit
• Handling ad-hoc tax issues, including advising on new tax legislation
• Sampling & reviewing tax supporting documents
• Research on technical issues
• Develop and implement tax planning strategies to optimize indirect tax positions, minimize tax liabilities, and identify tax-saving opportunities.
• Make recommendations regarding VAT and Customs Risks and opportunities
• Formalization of AECI entities’ Indirect Tax Policies

Qualifications & Experience

• Degree in Accounting/Tax Law or comparable degree
• Masters in Taxation or comparable degree
• Postgraduate in qualification in international trade (advantageous)
• Minimum 5 - 8 years’ experience in indirect taxes (VAT, customs)
• Commercial or Audit experience
• Solid global Indirect Tax knowledge and compliance experience
• Experience in multidisciplinary projects and change management
• Experience in SAP
