    Head: Corporate Finance

    Job Purpose

    • To lead the strategic direction and execution of all mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and strategic partnerships for the company. This individual will play a critical role in identifying, evaluating, and executing strategic transactions that align with the company's growth objectives and enhance shareholder value.
    • To lead our private equity division, overseeing all aspects of investment activities, and driving strategic initiatives to maximize returns for all stakeholders through working closely with the executive teams to formulate investment strategies, identify potential investment opportunities, and manage the portfolio companies.

    Key Responsibilities

    Strategic Leadership:

    • Develop and execute the overall M&A and Private Equity investment strategy aligned with the Group’s objectives.
    • Provide exceptional leadership to the M&A and private equity team, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation and collaboration.

    Portfolio Management:

    • Provide strategic oversight and management of the Group's portfolio of private equity investments, monitoring performance and identifying opportunities for value creation.
    • Manage the conflicting interests of stakeholders. (Hollard and Investee Company)
    • Work closely with portfolio company management teams to provide guidance and support in executing growth strategies and operational improvements.
    • Accept appointment as the Hollard director or representative for that equity stake and assume the inherent personal liability risk in each directorship role.
    • Mandated to execute decisions at board level.

    Required Knowledge and Experience    
    Required Experience

    • Minimum 10 years post-article experience at a management level in Mergers & Acquisitions, Investment Banking or Private Equity.
    • 10 years Financial Services experience with 5 in Insurance sector
    • Proven track record of successfully leading and executing mergers, acquisitions, and strategic transactions from deal sourcing to integration.
    • Experience in strategic planning and governance processes

    Educational Requirements    

    • Relevant postgraduate financial qualification
    • CA(SA), FASA or equivalent NQF level 8 or higher qualification
    • CFA and related qualifications will also be considered
