    Head of Delivery

    Who we are looking for

    • As the Head of Delivery, you will be responsible for optimizing the management and execution of projects, taking ownership of the project process from kick-off to close-off and liaising with internal teams to deliver on project requirements on time and within budget. You should have high attention to detail and enjoy planning for success by mitigating risks and ensuring that clients are up to date with key project milestones.
    • An ideal candidate is someone who is passionate about fine-tuning processes and problem-solving and has proven ability to manage a team of project managers with strong experience in operational and process management, fulfilling a role as a Head of Project Management, Head of Projects or an Operational lead role.

    Responsibilities

    Delivery & Revenue

    • Ensure that all services across the business are delivered within the expectations of clients and within contractual obligations.
    • Eliminate losses/inefficiencies within the projects by mitigating risks and ensuring timely communication with clients regarding scope, time or cost risk.
    • Maximize the revenue and billings of the production team by analyzing project resource & revenue forecasts, and feeding this information to our finance and sales teams.
    • Define and maintain the standard contractual frameworks for all project types and scopes.
    • Ensure all invoices are drafted in a timely manner in line with the original scope of work.
    • Align with other Leads in the Company regarding changes made within delivery processes, providing training where required.

    Risk mitigation, response & prevention

    • Protect revenue and NPS.
    • Ensure we are reporting to clients weekly with an update in regards to project spend.
    • Ensure all CLRs are completed in line with the CLR framework, and all learnings and actions are executed.
    • Ensure the client has a clear understanding regarding secondary scopes of work that delivery may propose.
    • Ensure all scopes are kicked off correctly in line with our kickoff processes.
    • Ensure all client communication is at an adequate level.

    Accountability

    • Ensure all projects have leads assigned to the project and that leads are performing their jobs.
    • Ensure all projects have a suitable project manager assigned to them based on their risk profile.
    • Train the project management team to ensure they are aware of all Delta standards.
    • Develop project management standards.
    • Hold traffic controllers and project managers accountable to their responsibilities.

    Configuration & resource planning

    • Ensure every scope within the system is correctly configured and kept up to date to ensure our top-down forecasting is accurate.
    • Design and optimize the resource planning process.
    • Ensure that resource planning reflects the approved budget by clients and correctly reflects the upcoming work across the business.
    • Ensure accurate revenue forecasting based on booked resources.

    Team management

    • Management of the Delivery team, ensuring the career development of all project managers within the team.
    • Recruit within the Delivery team, where required.
    • Train the project management team regarding contract management, conflict management and negotiation.

    What you’ll need

    • 5+ years of demonstrated experience managing a portfolio of +40 projects run by teams of project managers in a software development company, product development company or digital agency with + 60 employees, is preferred.
    • Exposure to standard contract types including master service agreements, time and materials, fixed price and retainer agreements.
    • Comfortable with contracting and contractual negotiation.
    • Experience interacting with both business and IT individuals at all levels, including the executive level.
    • Experience in proactive risk management to implement and track risk mitigation plans.
    • Strong financial acumen and a core understanding of financial metrics including margin, profitability, revenue, budgeting and financial objectives.
    • Certification: A degree in project management, business management or a related field, or a PRINCE2 / PMP certification.
    • Good understanding/knowledge of:
    • Software development life-cycle models and agile and traditional product-management principles and practices, and the ability to blend them in the right proportions to fit a project and business environment.
    • The business needs the ability to establish/maintain a high level of customer trust and confidence.
    • Stakeholder-focused, ABCD thinking mindset.
    • Ability to engage, influence and inspire stakeholders to drive collaboration and alignment.
    • Excellent organization, time management, and oral and written communications skills.
    • Effective change management skills to manage the impact of changes in the company/projects strategic environment
    • Proactive, self-starter with an ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
    • A 'hustler' attitude driven by confidence, perseverance and a readiness to take on (and solve) difficult challenges.
    • Critical thinker with a creative approach to problem-solving and the ability to focus on details while maintaining the “big picture” view.
    • A skilled motivator with strong leadership skills and the ability to lead up, across and down in an organisation.
