    We are looking for a temporary enthusiastic and experienced Head of Human Resources! Are you looking for a great challenge and a rewarding opportunity to showcase your skills and capabilities? We need a remarkable and passionate Head of HR to join the Communicare Family for a period of 12-24 months.

    Communicare is a dynamic and independent social enterprise that responds to the country’s housing crisis. We manage a growing residential portfolio in the affordable and social housing markets. Our social enterprise business model makes us the most sustainable provider of discounted rentals in South Africa. We also have a social development arm providing support services to our tenants, such as life skills, job seekers and active aging programs. We’re not just another landlord. We make a difference! The Head of HR will guide management in driving a culture change inside Communicare and build a high performing organisation while ensuring that all human resources functions (including talent acquisition, talent development and compensation and benefits) operate effectively.

    What will you be doing?

    You will be working closely with the Chief Executive Officer and other EXCO members to ensure that the organisation transitions into a more productive phase and that it achieves its objectives. You will do this by supporting change which comes from surfacing new ideas and introducing new ways of doing things, to ensure that the organisation is innovative, profitable and makes its social impact.

    Areas of responsibility include:

    • Organisational Development, Talent Acquisition, and Talent Development, Performance, Talent Development: Training, Compensation and Benefits, HR Reporting and Budgeting and Team Supervision. 

    The ideal personality?

    • You must be able to get things done, when they need to be done. You will need to be savvy; experienced enough to know which parts of your job need to be prioritised. As the successful incumbent, you will balance a breadth of experience and knowledge with an ability to manage the HR team, while at all times maintaining a high-level of customer service to the organisation. You will be innovative and informed on trends in HR, change management and labour legislation.

    The fine-print

    • You must have a degree in Human Resources Development or Human Resources Management. 
    • A qualification in Organisational Development will be advantageous.
    • We require a minimum of 5 years’ Organisational Development, Change Management and Leadership Development. Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, LRA, OHSA, BCEA, EE, SDA, EEA, etc.
    • Knowledge of organizational development models and experience in the application thereof. Knowledge and experience of budgets.
