Key Duties And Responsibilities

• Improve existing purchasing processes, create and define missing purchasing processes with the aim to reduce costs and improve customer service
• Manage the procurement team setup to conduct all activities efficiently and economically
• Issue POs for raw materials, spare parts, special equipment / machinery etc. and monitor delivery of materials and services until the ordered goods reach the plants (communicating with customs, banks, custom release etc.)
• Prepare and execute supply agreements, which will protect the Company against missed deliveries, shortages, outages, poor material quality etc.
• Maintain vendor network to support the planned production volume
• Develop new sources of supply to offer lower cost alternatives. Monitor market conditions and communicate potential changes that could affect costs and/or schedules
• Conduct ongoing communication, and negotiation, with established vendors and new vendors
• Prepare, analyze and monitor weekly and monthly purchasing reports in eMIS & ALPLAProd
• Closely collaborate with all relevant departments (Operations, Import, Finance etc.) and corporate purchasing to meet plant metrics and goals
• Improve & facilitate communication with internal plant departments and ALPLA Headquarters in Hard
• Ensure continuous material flow (to avoid shortages)
• Consolidate Material Purchase Orders in order to decrease prices & achieve savings
• Improve Purchasing workflow & department structure through implementation ALPLAProd
• Ensure suppliers comply with BBBEE requirements
• Drive and implement Key Procurement components of BBBEE requirements

What makes you great

• University degree in Engineering / Business or equivalent with 10+ years of procurement experience within a manufacturing company
• A strong understanding of business law, country regulations for import, raw material sourcing, procurement of technical parts, and outstanding negotiation skills
• Proven track of building up a team and leading people
• Ability to organize diverse information, analyse and solve disputes
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with people inside and outside the organization are required
• Strong understanding of factors that influence manufacturing, cost and quality of operations is preferred
