Head of Project Controlling at Alstom

• We invite suitably qualified candidates to apply for the Head of Project Controlling position in the Finance Department. The position will report to the Chief Financial Oficer and is based in Dunnottar, Nigel.
• The primary focus of this position is to manage the implementation of project financial controls and oversee project reviews from initiation to contract completion to confirm margins.
• Conduct medium and long-term reforecasts throughout the project lifecycle and partner with the Project Director, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Executive Officer to provide analysis to group management.
• Oversee monthly and 6-monthly work package reviews and forecasts to ensure adequate financial resources are available to meet operational requirements.

Detailed Description / Inputs

Project Controlling:

• Supports the Project Manager and the Project Team in the controlling/financial management of the project.    
• Support team to challenge forecast data as per defined work package and wbs structures.
• Ensuring data is consistent with the operational plan and assumptions.                               
• Reviewing or performing variance analysis on actual performance against planned.        
• Reporting internally and to group on the project(s) performance and at completion view.
• Enforce project review process, management and forecasting of expected costs, revenues, risks and opportunities
• Manage project bonds (calculation of exposure) and hedging to limit exposure, approve bond expenses.         Participate in the project Steering Committee, Risk analysis meetings and all decision-making concerning financial or contractual aspects of the project.                 
• Ensure/review consistency between GSI and project review data, actuals and at completion data.                    
• Interface with project controller community and update team on new developments.
• Approve invoicing to customer and ensure submitted timeously                                          
• Partner with risk manager and project controllers to identify, compute and incorporate within the risk register and systems.                                               
• Challenge the Estimate to Complete in order to maximise the Project Margin.                                
• Consolidate CPR pack - elimination of intercompany transactions.                                      
• Control and optimizing the project results through close involvement with the Project Manager and WP.
• Owners/Project Sub-system Managers.                                  
• Validate e-project portal, sign-off of project review data.   

Indexation:

• At completion selling price calculation, encompassing all anticipated inflows and economic adjustments.         
• Tracking and recording, circulating relevant local and international index updates.                        
• Manage PO and login credentials of econometrix and SEIFSA datatbases and support.                  
• Sensitivity calculation (CPA and Firming).                                           
• Preparation of "position paper", justification of long-term indices.                                         
• CPA meeting with customers, preparation/review.                           
• Computation of firming within projects and sensitivity to inputs.                                            

Treasury/Cash management:

• Review and release payments from banking porta.l                                     
• Plan and account for hedging/forward contracts at a business and project level – liaising with central team on accounting treatment and relevant entries.              
• Monthly monitoring of cash needs, ZAR/EUR needs.                                      
• SAP Key user (Project Systems).                                              
• Apply and configure new accounting standards/update of configurations within the project environment.        
• Data management and ensuring integrity of project data and setup.                                  
• Role of training and system support/troubleshooting with central teams (Raise and follow change requests or tickets across the site).

Adel management:

• Sign off project data as site controller.                                               
• Upload of hourly rates and co-efficients.      

Work Force Plan management:

• Partner with HR in implementing a hiring plan and monitoring thereof to ensure adherence to budget.   
• Approver of all HAF's, ensuring all hires are within budget or variances to plan are appropriately approved
• Calculation of blue collar anticipated total cost to company.
• Compiling all salary data for budget: Hourly rate calculation, monthly cost and cash forecasts.                          

Capex:

• Moving cost between project and assets                                          
• IFRS 15 methodology application,                                           
• Capex approval and ensuring appropriately allocated within the systems.
• Liaise directly with offshore Partners on pertinent project assumptions and information.
• Work with local team on project audits, providing all necessary reconciliations, data and explanations to satisfy requirement

Customer:

• Liaise with customers on financial topics                                            
• Indexation meetings, bonding, variation orders or other contractual matters.

Ad Hoc:

• Business Plan: Construction of working model with underlying operational and contractual fundamental.
• Perform and present sensitivity and scenrio analysis on critical operational topics.
• Partnering with Project Director, CFO and CEO to provide analysis to group management.

Accounting:

• Rollout of amended accounting statements into the ways of working and training amongst finance and non-financial staff (IFRS15).

Economic Development:

• Supporting, monitoring and reviewing ED team in controlling and reporting.
• Reviewing monthly reports, forecasts and key reports to customer. (Update ED team with contract value, quarterly actuals and commitments).

Team:

• Hire, develop and manage team of project and dedicated work package controllers.
• Enforcing and introducing procedures and driving efficiency.                                              
• Cascading priorities and delegating to the team.                                         
• Ensuring that the company procedures are properly known and applied by all the Finance stakeholders. Coach the Finance teams when needed.

Induction:       

• Present finance topic at induction to newcomers monthly.
