Job Purpose

Nedgroup Investments is looking for an individual passionate about advancing the agenda of climate and sustainability related issues in the investment industry.  The Head of Responsible Investments would be required to develop the Nedgroup Investments strategy toward sustainability, driving all aspects of our responsible investment linked activities, and remaining entirely focused and accountable for the credibility of the business as a leader in Responsible Investing.

Job Responsibilities

• ​​​​​​Enable the Responsible Investing function by remaining abreast of Sustainable subject matter and major trends in the industry.

• Staying abreast and involved with Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR), Task force on climate related financial disclosures (TCFD),  Task force on nature related financial disclosures (TNFD), Code for Responsible Investing in South Africa (CRISA), Carbon Disclosure Project, Regulation 28 and ESG etc.

• Plan and implement effective ways to cascade and communicate the Nedgroup Investments Responsible investment Business Strategy and strategic initiatives across the organisation.

• Ensure effectiveness by independently monitoring and reporting on implementation of the sustainability strategy.

• Maintain relevance by researching best practice in the industry and collating internal Sustainability view.

• Contribution to annual Sustainable Development and Integrated Reports

• Accountable as the Nedgroup Investments representative within the Nedbank Climate Task Team and the Wealth Responsible Investments Committee

• Realising synergies via continued work with Nedbank Sustainability Team

• Aligning Nedgroup Investments with the SDGs and Nedbank targets (energy, carbon, financial inclusion etc.)

• Initiate product development

• Plan and implement the annual asset manager RI assessment, report and feedback sessions

• Conduct business interventions and induction programmes to ensure continuous awareness around Sustainability issues

• Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders

• Build synergy across business functions.

• Collaborates with management to establish research/analytical methodologies for the proxy analysis and voting function

• Introduce Portfolio ESG Analytics to assess ESG performance, responding to information requests and achieving best practice reporting standards.

• Engage in regular webinars, training, education and awareness for internal & external stakeholders.

Essential Qualifications - NQF Level

• Matric / Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate

• Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees

Preferred Qualification

Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) / Master of Business Administration (MBA) / M. Com (Finance specialisation)/ Economics/ Sustainability/Environmental Studies
