Head of User Experience (UX) Design at Shoprite Group of Companies

Job Objectives    

• Drive operational excellence or comprehensive business solutions including strategies, frameworks, journeys, processes and other inputs required to coordinate and align cross functional collaboration of the UX design.
• Integrate and optimise systems and processes across value chains.
• Benchmark competitive performance measures and measure success and/or operational efficiencies.
• Is accountable for the definition and leading of UX/UI processes and practice of user experience and interface design at Shoprite.
• Tactical discretion to ensure successful feature releases linked to Epics.
• Guide and collaborate with the design team to create consistent, best-in-class experiences, and proactively seek out ways to improve processes and encourage professional development.
• Provide industry and product expertise on user experience to lead to better strategic decisions.
• Ensure they have a good understanding of the product roadmap and vision as defined by the Product Manager to inform the creation and prioritization of the backlog.

Qualifications    

• Degree in IT, Business or equivalent - (essential)
• Post Graduate Degree IT, Business or equivalent

Experience    

• 7+ years in a UX / UI design or equivalent role, leading Group UX / UI omni-channel delivery, frameworks, policies, procedures and guidelines. Extensive exposure to thinking strategically about the impact of short term decisions in the longer term, and directing product design teams, UX research outcomes and partners closely with designers to build superb outcomes.
• A proven track record of leading UX / UI design or equivalent role, leading Group UX / UI omni-channel delivery, frameworks, policies, procedures and guidelines together with developing a strong, motivated team with the relevant skills and capabilities.
• Extensive exposure to directing product design teams where UX research outcomes, partners closely with designers to build superb outcomes.

Knowledge and Skills    

• Demonstrable knowledge of design practices within the FMCG, retail sector, understanding of the UX / UI opportunities and challenges within a Group, multi-brand orientated retail environment.
• Customer obsessed, placing the customer in the centre of all UX design and integrating previous experiences with obtaining and understanding the needs of internal and external customers / end users.
• On top of their game with the latest and latest trends and technologies in user experience.
• Strong project management skills, managing (leading) projects involving cross functional teams.
• Strong communication with the confidence to present analysis, diagnosis and solutions to senior management and across interdisciplinary teams and facilitate discussions pertaining to the pros and cons, options and preferences.
