We are seeking to appoint an experienced HR Generalist to join the HR Department. The incumbent will be responsible for providing professional and comprehensive Human Resources services and support to the business needs. This will be in the areas of employee self-service (ESS), performance management, HR information system(s), company policies & procedures and other areas within the HR function to achieve business objectives. Working with the HR team, Payroll and HR Director, the successful incumbent will ensure a high-quality HR service is delivered to the HR team and business consistently.
Requirements
Grade 12/ Matric and a relevant tertiary qualification; a degree or diploma in HR is essential
Minimum 5 years’ Generalist Human Resources experience
Knowledge of the Education or Publishing industry is advantageous
Thorough understanding of South African labour law. i.e., BCEA, LRA, Skills Development, Health & Safety, etc.
Full MS Office skills and knowledge is essential
Previous exposure to HR Systems, HRIS, ESS, Sage HR system, etc. is essential
General knowledge and understanding of relevant Southern African countries legislation including HR related policies and procedures
Good interpersonal skills and strong team orientation
Sense of urgency and attention to detail skills are essential
High confidentiality
Ability to work independently; receives minimal guidance on day-to-day work and new projects or assignments.

Key Responsibilities:
Manage the employee onboarding process from drafting contracts of employment to onboarding the new employee on the HR systems
Ensure that all the proper documentation for the new employee has been forwarded to payroll
Provide guidance on employee relations related issues for the respective countries and areas looked after and act as a liaison between the relevant parties involved
Manage the roll-out and successful implementation of business aligned global and Southern African HR initiatives within the designated businesses.
Ensure that all the relevant information relating to payroll administration i.e., new starters and leavers, contract changes, leave records are submitted before payroll deadline.
Manage and ensure ESS monthly reporting, including being the first point of contact on any ESS leave queries
Ensure, manage and maintain the integrity of the information captured on UDE/ULIE/HRIS. Provide quarterly reports to HRD, or as and when required.
Review, change and maintain the integrity of the company organization charts, and send these to the Regional Exco and SMF teams monthly.
Support staff in the Performance Management process, from objective setting, mid-year reviews and end of year reviews.
Act as primary HR contact and act as trusted advisor on i.e., Legislation and impact thereof.
Deliver advice and guidance to Management and Employees on matters related to all HR policies and procedures.
Ensure accurate and proper administration of personnel files, new engagements, promotions and transfers on the HR system and in line with processes.
Work with HRD and Senior Managers to drive and co-ordinate Global –driven training programs for key management employees.
Facilitate and ensure that all training initiatives are loaded on LEAP as part of PM and Skills Development process.
Provide the LEAP internal and external training report for the Region on a quarterly basis.
Ensure that training and learner details and information are loaded onto the HR system and maintained according to company requirements.
Manage the process of employee bursary applications, including the calculation of bursary pay-back commitments, and generating bursary agreements.
Assist with completing Workplace Skills Plan reports, Annual Training Reports, and other HR related reports.
Keeping abreast with all new Legislation and other issues in area of responsibility.
