    ICU Registered Nurse: Bloemfontein

    Desired experience and qualifications:

    • Critical Care qualification.
    • ICU working experience.
    • Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse.
    • Compliance with the SANC code for a Registered Nurse and all applicable health care legislations.
    • Shifts Working.
    • Advanced Computer Literacy.

    Duties and responsibilities will include:

    • Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill and high-dependency patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
    • Monitor and assess patients’ vital signs, neurological status, and overall condition continuously.
    • Operate and monitor advanced life-support equipment, including ventilators, cardiac monitors, infusion pumps, and dialysis machines where applicable.
    • Administer prescribed medications, intravenous therapies, blood products, and treatments accurately and safely.
    • Recognise and respond promptly to changes in patient condition and medical emergencies.
    • Assist doctors and specialists during examinations, procedures, and emergency interventions.
    • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualised patient care plans.
    • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records and nursing documentation.
    • Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control protocols.
    • Perform wound care, pressure area management, and other specialised nursing procedures.
    • Educate and support patients’ families regarding treatment plans, progress, and discharge requirements where appropriate.
    • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary healthcare teams, including doctors, physiotherapists, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals.
    • Participate in patient handovers and ensure continuity of care between shifts.
    • Adhere to hospital policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements.
    • Mentor and support junior nursing staff, enrolled nurses, and nursing assistants when required
