Indirect Tax Analyst at Astron Energy (Pty) Ltd.

Role Summary

• The Indirect Tax Analyst is responsible for ensuring full compliance with South African Customs and Excise legislation as it relates to the importation, exportation, and movement of petroleum products and associated materials.
• The role supports the business in managing indirect tax risks, preparing and reviewing statutory returns, maintaining accurate records, and interacting with SARS and other regulatory bodies.
• The successful candidate will provide specialist support on indirect tax matters, primarily Customs and Excise, with secondary involvement in VAT and other regulatory compliance.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Taxation, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in Customs and Excise, preferably in the petroleum, oil & gas, or manufacturing sectors.
• Strong working knowledge of South African Customs & Excise legislation and SARS compliance requirements.
• Experience with bonded warehouses, rebate stores, and movement of dutiable goods.
• Familiarity with VAT legislation and indirect tax reporting (advantageous).
• Previous experience interacting with SARS and handling tax audits is highly beneficial.
• Competency in ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or similar.
