Plan, manage and supervise the activities of the inorganics department
Work to SANAS standard (ISO 17025) to ensure that the agreed quality standards and requirements e.g. calibrations, AQC charts etc. are continually adhered to by all members of the team
Ensure that all work carried out complies with documented procedures and samples are handled correctly
Organise workflow and ensuring that employees understand their duties or delegated tasks
Set goals for performance and deadlines in ways that comply with company’s plans and vision
Monitor employee productivity and provide constructive feedback and coaching
Investigate complaints/queries and resolve problems
Disseminate information from upper management to employees and vice versa
Ensure compliance with company health and safety requirements, promote a proactive safety attitude to ensure the safety of self and others
Skills / Qualifications
Higher education qualification in Chemistry or a Chemistry related subject
Supervisory experience within a laboratory
Technical capability of inorganic analytical methods
Experience within an ISO 17025 commercial analytical laboratory would be advantageous
A highly motivated, organised individual, with a positive attitude
Excellent attention to detail
A good communicator
Ability to work independently and adhere to deadlines
