Insights Analyst at BAT

ROLE POSITIONING AND OBJECTIVES

• The overall purpose of this role is to assist in the delivery of actionable insights through collation of multiple data sources and ensuring business performance trackers are updated for decision making.

WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR

• Data mining or extracting useable data from different data sources.
• Processing, cleansing, and validating the integrity of data to be used for analysis.
• Collate and analyzing different sources of data to generate insights to inform and/or address business questions.
• Analyzing large amounts of data with an aim of finding patterns that can be used to predict future trends.
• Build algorithms to merge, interrogate, and manage data extracts required by internal stakeholders.
• Identify valuable data sources and automate collection processes to ease pressure from time consuming data extraction.
• Ensure insights trackers & dashboards are refreshed accurately and in a timely manner.
• Delivery on data queries and extracts required by the different internal stakeholders on ad hoc basis.
• Perform robust checks on data delivered by research agencies, ensuring accuracy before release of the data to business.
• Assist Insights Managers as and when required to deliver on collation of data inputs, updating of presentations and managing of researchprojects.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

• University degree, preferably in any Computer Science, Mathematics or Engineering is preferred.
• Strong Mathematics skills particularly in Statistics and Algebra necessary for regression and predictive analysis.
• Experience with data visualization tools such as PowerBI, Click view and Tableau that helps to visually encoded data.
• Familiarity with programming skills like R, Python, C++, and Java is an added advantage.
• Data interpretation and analytical skills coupled with a high-level computer literacy and skills in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
• Up to 5 years relevant experience performing a role similar to a data scientist: engaging in medium to complex data analysis and
• interpreting data to meaningful insights that drive decision making.
• Ability to effectively organize and prioritize multiple tasks while delivering on time and with accuracy.
• Above average written, verbal and presentation skills with capacity to communicate with senior managers and Leadership team.
