Instrumentation Technician at Implats

PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To safely design, install, fault find, repair and maintain instrumentation and IT equipment and infrastructure.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

• Grade 12 or NQF 4 Equivalent
• Instrumentation National Diploma or NQF 6
• 2-3 Years Instrument Technician experience
• 3 Years Instrumentation Mechanician experience within a mining environment
• Experience in setting up industrial IT networking
• MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• SAP

COMPETENCIES:

• Adheres to safety regulations and mine standards, procedures and practices and reports non-compliance.
• Participates in regular safety meetings and makes recommendations to ensure overall safety.
• Performs regular inspections in area of work and report hazards to ensure environment safety and hazard free and recommends remedial action where necessary.
• Demonstrate knowledge pertaining to basic health and safety principles in the workplace.
• Demonstrate an understanding of the uses and safety aspects associated with flammable energy sources.
• Understand basic electrical and mechanical engineering principles.
• Understand basic electronic theory and components.
• Demonstrate and understanding of the Principles of Process Control Loops.
• Demonstrate and understanding of basic Programmable Logic Controllers.
• Demonstrate an understanding of the principles of installing Instrumentation Equipment.

• Principles of supporting users of local area networks
• Read and interpret instrumentation drawings
• Produce complex engineering drawings
• Draw and interpret instrumentation drawings
• Identify, inspect, use maintain and care for engineering hand tools
• Select, use and care for electrical measuring equipment
• Select, use and care for electrical measuring instruments
• Select, inspect, use and maintain measurement, test and calibration equipment
