Job Description
Main Purpose of Job
The Strategy Senior Manager works within the Africa Strategy Unit to advance the development of the Africa Member Firm network and implementation of its strategies to achieve the growth ambitions of the Africa Member Firm.
The scope of the role is Africa wide and requires the incumbent to play a key role in the shaping and framing the key strategies of the firm, working with the businesses to translate these strategies and drive execution.
The Strategy Senior Manger reports to the Strategy Unit Director, with frequent interaction with the Deputy Chief Executive, Africa Executive, Clients and Industries, service lines, internal client service functions and other senior leaders across the Africa firm.

Develop effective working relationships across the Africa Firm - including internal clients (service lines, Exco) and colleagues to exercise influence
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills (storyboarding, presentations, report writing, etc.) to build alignment and understanding
Develop hypothesis to clearly articulate strategic options - leverage influencing skills and ability to negotiate trade-offs where competing priorities exist
Financial modelling to define financial implications and trade-offs for proposed strategic options

Lead the process to translate the firm’s strategic choices and priorities agreed by the Africa executive
Embed execution discipline to ensure the agreed upon tactical plans are fulfilled
Create explicit links between outcomes (growth, transformation and an enhanced brand position - and associated key metrics) and the strategic priorities and actions of the firm
Shape the emerging priorities of the firm by identifying and analysing key trends to understand
significance and business implications to stress test strategic priorities and choices to inform adjustments which may be required
Lead strategic projects within specific areas of the business and across businesses / service lines as agreed with the Strategy Unit Leader
Utilise external sources (market research) to assess the professional services marketplace to help senior Leaders understand Deloitte’s competitive position (successes, challenges, opportunities, and risks) as input to shaping the choices and strategy of the firm
Including liaising with external service providers to scope competitor analysis studies for core Africa markets
Collaborating with the knowledge management function on research needs - including competitor analysis, market sensing (including key trends, acquisitions, macro and micro economic indicators)
Formulate business issues into robust and quantified decision frameworks to identify strategic option with preferred solutions to drive business performance
Identify and develop the supporting business case underpinning strategic options to quantify impact, tradeoffs, returns and implications of decisions
Identify underperforming/ sub-optimal parts of the firm’s portfolio to create visibility of areas requiring intervention - for instance optimisation and or investment
Develop a framework and the associated tools for assessing business performance, duplications and or overlaps
Analyse portfolios to identify trends, systemic issues and early warning signals of areas in the business which are at risk of becoming commoditised
Recommend corrective action based on the analysis
Support senior leaders on long range planning projects and ad-hoc requests
Develop and share content for presentations and reports, as well as supporting analytics, for the Deloitte Africa CE and Deputy CE and senior leaders and oversight committees, as required

Maintain personal motivation and drive to take ideas from conception to implementation
Generate innovative solutions to enhance Africa firms’ impact and strategic outcomes
Based on expertise and experience, advises and supports Service Line leadership in identification and implementation of innovative solutions to issues arising within area of expertise
Budgets
Provides input to the annual strategy budget - including priority head count, projects, market studies, access to paid data bases and market reports
Manage budget through accurate budgeting and cost control for areas of responsibility and projects
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications: University Graduate- Undergraduate degree with rigorous analytical and quantitative focus (Business Sciences, Business Administration (MBA or equivalent), Finance / Engineering)
Whilst not a strict requirement, a post graduate qualification in a management or numerate discipline would be an added advantage
Minimum 8 years’ working experience in a consulting environment
Understanding of Strategy process and best practice – including strategy development, execution and communication
Established, professional with strong strategy experience at management level
Understand market structures, competition dynamics and client behaviours
Desired Experiences
At least 5 years in a client facing management consulting role
Delivering complex, large scale projects - leading multiple streams and aligning stakeholders to achieve outcomes
Strong analytical skills
Financial Modelling
Working knowledge of the market, players and trends in Professional services
Concurrently deliver on portions of multiple strategy projects in a fast-paced, intense, results-oriented environment
