Internal Compliance Officer at GCI Wealth

Duties and KPA’s 

Monitoring: 

• Ensure continual monitoring of regulatory evolutions FAIS, FICA, TCF etc that impact the business and successfully implement the changes within the business
• Establish, Monitor and Maintain the Compliance Risk Management program and related compliance policies

Support 

• Provide compliance and regulatory advice to Management, Support staff and Wealth Managers
• Communicate to the business any developments and or changes within the regulatory environment
• Establish and maintain good working relationships with regulatory bodies (FSCA, CMS, Ombud, FIC etc) 
• FSCA reporting e.g.: Financial reporting, Annual Compliance Report, irregularity reports etc 
• Provide compliance reports to EXCO on all FSP’s at least quarterly indicating the risk exposure, course of corrective actions if required, progress achieved with compliance monitoring duties etc and make recommendations to the FSP
• Manage and maintain FAIS representative register for multiple FSP's
• Manage and Maintain the Representative CPD register
• Manage and maintain client’s complaints register
• Assist with Representative and KI applications and changes
• Oversee the supervision process by maintaining the supervision register and ensuring supervision sessions are held regularly
• Manage and Maintain Fit & Proper requirements across multiple FPS’s 
• Attend compliance audits with external compliance officers
• Checking and sign off of all new business cases (policies, investments etc) to ensure alignment with legislation

Education, experience, skills and attributes matrix

Education

• Grade 12
• Tertiary degree: BCom Law or similar or Relevant qualification as per the FSCA’s approved qualifications list
• RE 1,3 and 5 certificates
• CPrac (SA) designation would be an added advantage
• CPD points must be up to date

Experience

• Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in a FAIS compliance role
• Be an approved FAIS compliance officer and meet the FSCA’s requirements for internal compliance officers
• Experience in managing compliance related queries and engaging with the business and respective departments
• Must have Category I and II licence knowledge and experience
• Experience in Long term Insurance and Investments required
• Experience with Employee Benefits, Medical Aid & Short-Term Insurance beneficial
• Experience with Section 12J Companies would be beneficial
• Experience in training and implementing new training programs for compliance
• Exposure to liaising with regulatory bodies
• Sound knowledge of the applicable regulatory framework, compliance topics and applicable laws pertaining to the business
