International Purchasing & Customs Entry Clerk at Hire Resolve

Job Description

• A leading FMCG and home appliance distributor in South Africa is seeking an experienced International Purchasing and Customs Entry Clerk to join their dynamic team. This role focuses on managing end-to-end import operations, strictly maintaining compliance with South African Revenue Service (SARS) regulations, and coordinating directly with international manufacturers.

Key Responsibilities - Non-negotiable

• Customs Clearing & Compliance: Process accurate customs entries, audit tariff classifications, and ensure full alignment with SARS customs regulations and documentation requirements.
• Procurement & Purchase Orders: Generate, issue, and track purchase orders from initial placement through to delivery, with a heavy focus on managing relations and logistics with Chinese suppliers.
• Freight & Logistics Management: Track incoming sea and air freight shipments, collaborate with freight forwarders, and resolve transit delays to maintain supply chain continuity.
• Incoterms & Costing: Apply appropriate Incoterms (e.g., FOB, CIF, DDP) to negotiate shipping terms, calculate landed costs, and optimize international logistics expenses.
• Documentation & Audit: Maintain thorough records of bills of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, and customs documentation for internal and external auditing.

Requirements

• Direct, hands-on experience with SARS customs procedures and entries.
• Proven track record in international purchasing, purchase order management, and freight tracking.
• Strong working knowledge of global logistics, Incoterms, and import documentation.
• Demonstrated experience communicating and managing lead times with Chinese suppliers.
• Exceptional attention to detail, analytical skills, and supply chain problem-solving ability.
