Internship: Claims x11 - Cape Town at Road Accident Fund

Job Posting Salary:  R96,000.00

Purpose of the Internship: The Road Accident Fund is committed to youth skills development, providing graduates with an opportunity to gain work-based experience. Applications are invited for the Claims Department Internships from unemployed graduates between the age of 18 and 25. The Internship program will run for a period of eighteen (18) months. Verification process will be undertaken to verify whether you have previous work anywhere within the Republic of South Africa.

• ADJUDICATION DEPARTMENT x2 
• LEGAL ADMINISTRATION DEPARTMENT x3 
• ONBOARDING DEPARTMENT x3
• MERITS DEPARTMENT  x1
• OFFER MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT x2

Work based exposure may include the following:

• Assessment of claims,
• Preparing memorandums and summaries,  
• Checking correspondence
• Claims investigation in civil or other damages claims
• Experience in the drafting of pleadings or other applications or court processes
• Assessment of damages in civil matters to quantify claims – assessment of injuries, perusal of medico legal reports, other quantum documents ie employment records
• Taking instructions from superiors and preparing file after instructions received or given to other stakeholders – ie counsel, secretary, experts, state attorneys, investogators,  , attorneys
• Consultations with attorneys
• Preparation of memorandums to give advice or guidance on management of a claim or leal process
• Ability to interact with a team and adhere to deadlines and awareness of implications of timeframes in line with court rules
• Management of court processes – ie summons and writs – admin skills to be good
• Adhoc tasks
• Negotiations with attorneys iro bills of costs.
• Implementation of Directives and Policy
• Preparing Recons for attorneys
• Background iro legal costs within the RAF.

Qualifications and other Requirements

• Certified copy of Grade 12 / Matric certificate
• B degree LLB / BA Law/ Diploma in Law
• Certified copy of your ID
• Certified copy of Academic transcript
• Your CV and motivational letter
