IP Planning (Mobile IP) at MTN

• At least 5 years engineering experience (design/planning focused) on IP/MPLS networks and services for Mobile Network Operators
• 3 year relevant Diploma/Degree
• A good understanding of mobile technologies and architectures 2G, 3G, and 4G
• 5G knowledge advantageous
• Experience on Cisco CRS, ASR9K, ASR1K, 7600, 6500, 4500
• A good understanding of IP/MPLS services with traffic engineering and quality of service
• A good understanding of BGP-LS, SR and EVPN
• CCNP-SP or equivalent pre-requisite
• CCIE advantageous

Planning and Design

• Planning and dimensioning of Mobile IP core networks
• Budget planning
• Developing design guidelines
• Translation of high level plan to low level design
• Drive execution of plans
• Forecast capacity and traffic and align with requirements from other business units
• Understanding of fixed and mobile networks
• Plan transport capacity backbone infrastructure
• Evaluate new IP/MPLS network equipment and specifications
• Topology/service planning
• Preparation and execution of RFP
• In depth knowledge of standards and specifications
• In-depth knowledge of network KPIs

Network Optimisation & Performance

• Ensure quality objectives are met and maintained
• Report on performance problems and performance improvements
• Investigate performance issues and identify changes required
• Review design and drive optimisation changes
• Provide high level support on the planned network/technologies
