ISB Rescue Technician Basic Ambulance Assistant at Mediclinic

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

To attend to site based emergency calls, provide medical care in line with scope of practice. Provide access to rescue services by responding to scenes of mine accidents, disasters or other emergency incidents in the geographical boundaries of the site operations.

Appointment for this position is subject to successful completion of physical fitness and medical assessment

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

• Ensure operational readiness for emergency calls
• Provide Rescue and Emergency Medical service as required
• Administer patient care in line with scope of practice
• Complete patient and incident reports timeously, completely and accurately and ensure patient confidentiality
• Attend and conduct training and participate in monthly base meeting
• Keep physically and medically fit to perform duties
• Provide professional emergency services to site based clients and the general public and local community
• Provide basic shift administration services

Required Education

• Basic Ambulance Assistant Certificate LMVR (Light motor vehicle rescue)

Certificates In The Following Qualifications (accredited Unit Standards)

• Rope rescue Level 1 and Level 2

For certain rescue positions we require verifiable and accredited (applicable unit standards) rescue training in:

• Trench Rescue
• Confined Space Rescue
• Structural Collapse Rescue
• Machinery Rescue
• Aquatic Rescue
• Fire fighter I and II
• High Angle rescue I
• Hazmat Awareness and Operations
• Aviation Fire Fighting and Rescue

Desired Education

• Advanced Certificate in Rescue

Accredited Rescue Training In

• Certificates in the following qualifications (accredited unit standards):
• High Angle II, Hazmat Operations, Trench, Confined Space, Industrial and Structural Collapse Rescue. Valid certificate in MIMMS (Major Incident Medical Management and Support)

Required Experience

• Essential Minimum Experience: 6 months -1 year operational BLS experience with verifiable rescue experience or experience as a firefighter
• Desired Experience: 2-3 years operational BLS experience with verifiable rescue experience or experience as a firefighter

Successful completion of training related to Clinical Practice Guidelines published by the Health Professions Council of South Africa will be advantageous. If not compliant with the clinical practice guidelines at the time of application you will be required to complete this training during your probation period if successful in your application.
