MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
To attend to site based emergency calls, provide medical care in line with scope of practice. Provide access to rescue services by responding to scenes of mine accidents, disasters or other emergency incidents in the geographical boundaries of the site operations.
Appointment for this position is subject to successful completion of physical fitness and medical assessment
KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS
- Ensure operational readiness for emergency calls
- Provide Rescue and Emergency Medical service as required
- Administer patient care in line with scope of practice
- Complete patient and incident reports timeously, completely and accurately and ensure patient confidentiality
- Attend and conduct training and participate in monthly base meeting
- Keep physically and medically fit to perform duties
- Provide professional emergency services to site based clients and the general public and local community
- Provide basic shift administration services
Required Education
- Basic Ambulance Assistant Certificate LMVR (Light motor vehicle rescue)
Certificates In The Following Qualifications (accredited Unit Standards)
- Rope rescue Level 1 and Level 2
For certain rescue positions we require verifiable and accredited (applicable unit standards) rescue training in:
- Trench Rescue
- Confined Space Rescue
- Structural Collapse Rescue

- Fire fighter I and II
- High Angle rescue I

Accredited Rescue Training In

- High Angle II, Hazmat Operations, Trench, Confined Space, Industrial and Structural Collapse Rescue. Valid certificate in MIMMS (Major Incident Medical Management and Support)
Required Experience
- Essential Minimum Experience: 6 months -1 year operational BLS experience with verifiable rescue experience or experience as a firefighter
- Desired Experience: 2-3 years operational BLS experience with verifiable rescue experience or experience as a firefighter
Successful completion of training related to Clinical Practice Guidelines published by the Health Professions Council of South Africa will be advantageous. If not compliant with the clinical practice guidelines at the time of application you will be required to complete this training during your probation period if successful in your application.

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
To establish, improve and sustain the Patient Safety behaviour, outcomes and culture in the hospital and mitigate any risks to clinical Patient Safety and Statutory compliance through quality control and assurance activities
KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS
- Facilitate and manage systems thinking about Patient Safety by ensuring that patient safety-related near-misses, adverse incidents, deaths and complaints relating to clinical Patient Safety are identified, reported and investigated using a systems analysis in a timeous manner, in accordance to corporate policy.
- Lead the MCSA Patient Safety culture at the hospital through clinical Quality Improvement (QI) initiatives and compliance with clinical Quality Control and Assurance requirements based on hospital systems analysis, clinical outcomes, hospital and group Patient Safety goals.
- Capacitate and manage hospital teams to enable and build a Patient Safety and Quality Improvement culture by identifying and facilitate training based on hospital and group Patient Safety goals and trends.
- Provide clinical support to the Hospital Clinical Manager and/or Nurse Manager with regards to Medico-Legal investigations using systems analysis
- Provide support to the hospital regarding Infection Prevention Controls and management in the absence of the Infection Prevention Control Specialist.
Required Education
ESSENTIAL EDUCATION
