    IT Business Analyst III (Integration Projects)

    Job Summary

    • The Client Servicing Applications (CSA) team is seeking a Business Analyst to support the delivery of backend-focused solutions across internal microservices and integrations with third‑party vendors. This role requires a strong understanding of technical analysis, API integration patterns, and the ability to translate business needs into clear, implementable requirements. The Business Analyst will work closely with architects, developers, testers, and business stakeholders to support product delivery within a Scrum environment. 
    • As a Business Analyst in Retail IT you will be responsible for working with key stakeholders to understand business direction, propose solutions, provide insight into business problems, and assist the domain in the implementation of long-term solutions.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Identify themes and trends within area of responsibility, appreciate inherent risks and highlight change opportunities.
    • Liaise with stakeholders to determine priorities and effective solutions to meet business requirements. This includes collaborating closely with architects and technical teams to ensure alignment on solution design.
    • Analyse and document business and system requirements for front-end applications, REST APIs, and integrations.
    • Interpret and review API specifications and define integration requirements for internal teams.
    • Document system solutions (e.g. process flows, requirements, and functional specifications). 
    • Design usable, elegant, practical, and scalable solutions to meet business needs. 
    • Plan and manage implementation of solutions. 
    • Manage business expectations and proactively mitigate any risks of production releases by conducting impact analysis, user acceptance testing (where needed), and relevant user training. 
    • Conduct post implementation reviews to ascertain value added and address any post release issues. . 
    • Support the Product Owner with backlog refinement, prioritisation, and Scrum ceremonies.
    • Facilitate refinement sessions and ensure user stories are well structured and understood.
    • Assist testers when needed to clarify requirements, business rules, and acceptance criteria.
    • Manage multiple initiatives concurrently and ensure timely communication with stakeholders.
    • Contribute to continuous improvement of BA practices, domain knowledge, and team processes.
    • Provide technical and business support to users at critical business periods. 

    Skills and Experience required

    • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving spanning multiple areas/systems. 
    • Ability to engage confidently with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to manage workload effectively and operate across multiple workstreams.
    • Familiarity with integration concepts including REST, synchronous and asynchronous services.
    • SQL skills for data validation and investigation.
    • High attention to detail and structured thinking.
    • Comfortable working within a fast‑paced, delivery‑focused Scrum team.
    • Ability to deal with and influence senior stakeholders constructively. 
    • Ability to manage personal workload and delivery expectations. 

    Expertise 

    • Demonstrate leadership qualities.
    • Demonstrated experience working with REST APIs and integration requirements.
    • Experience working with vendors or third‑party system providers.
    • Experience operating within a Scrum or Agile software delivery environment.
    • Exposure to hybrid cloud environments and microservices (advantageous).

    Require a good understanding of 

    • Good understanding of operational processes within client servicing, distribution, or financial services environments.
    • System Development Life Cycle / SCRUM methodology.
    • Problem solving techniques.
    • Release Processes and IT environments. 
    • Testing Methodology.

    Qualifications

    • Relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. BComm, B Bus Science degree)
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Business Analyst or Systems Analyst.
