    Scrum Master

    Job Description

    • This is an opportunity to work in a large IT department with about 20 teams. 
    • You'll be surrounded by people who are incredibly smart, passionate about creating long term wealth for our clients, and believe that world class service is critical to customer success. 
    • We appreciate someone that is pragmatic and knows when to push for process improvement or let the team experiment and fail in a safe manner. Many of our teams have been doing Scrum or Kanban, some have even chosen parts of Agile processes that work for them, it is not one size fits all. The candidate should be able to engage with teams to either re-establish Scrum practises or assist them in Process design to achieve buy-in and help the team be effective.
    • The candidate will work with a high degree of autonomy and will need to engage not only with the team but also with stakeholders outside the team to drive continuous improvement.
    • You will not be alone, we currently have a team of Scrum Masters that you can co-facilitate, co-coach, pair on anything to help achieve a team’s goals.
    • We believe Scrum Masters can influence broader than one or two teams and we encourage implementation of improvement themes across the department

    Responsibilities

    • Organise and help execute the Scrum framework: Scrum meetings (i.e. daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, retrospectives, planning sessions) and metrics (burndown charts, predictability metrics) 
    • Assist the product owner in prioritisation and scheduling of work, to meet agreed delivery time frames
    • Make sure that all the team members understand their roles and fulfil them to the best of their ability
    • Guide/coach/mentor the development team to take on the responsibilities of the process and the ownership of the product - lead team to a self-organised state
    • Identify and facilitate the resolution of identified impediments 
    • Helps the team in its use of Scrum and Agile practices by motivating the team and reminding the team of its goals and how they choose to meet them

    Test Analyst III | Institutional IT | Client Servicing Domain

    Job Summary

    • We are looking for a self-motivated individual to join the Institutional IT team as a test analyst in delivering quality software that will create an exceptional user experience for our end-users. 
    • Allan Gray Institutional IT team consists of appr. 65 members, covering a range of skills and responsibilities including Domain Owners, Development Manager, Architect, Business Analysts, Developers (.NET and SQL) and IT Operations. The team operates with four business-aligned domains (Front Office, Middle Office, Fund Operations and Client Servicing). 
    • Additionally, the Tech domain and IT Operations teams support the business-aligned domains.
    • What you can expect: You will work predominantly within the Client Services Domain performing functional and regression testing as well as resolving production defects. 
    • Please note: This is a Cape Town based role and you will be required to be in office for a minimum of 3 days / week, with a Monday and Thursday as compulsory.  

    Job Responsibilities

    • Extracting test requirements for user stories, 
    • Designing and creating test cases, 
    • Estimating effort for testing tasks, 
    • Manual testing of applications, which includes front-end, system integration, regression, and end-to-end as well as exploratory testing, 
    • Managing and maintaining manual regression test suites, 
    • Product risk mitigation, thereby limiting defects in production, 
    • Collaborating closely with developers and business analysts in identifying, logging, and verifying defects in a defect tracking system, 
    • Collaborating with other teams in INST IT for integration testing. 
    • Assist in production support issues and queries.
    • Liaise with IT Ops and other Domains for support to resolve or assist with fixes.
    • Continuous improvement initiatives specifically with regard to quality and performance

    IT Business Analyst III (Integration Projects)

    Job Summary

    • The Client Servicing Applications (CSA) team is seeking a Business Analyst to support the delivery of backend-focused solutions across internal microservices and integrations with third‑party vendors. This role requires a strong understanding of technical analysis, API integration patterns, and the ability to translate business needs into clear, implementable requirements. The Business Analyst will work closely with architects, developers, testers, and business stakeholders to support product delivery within a Scrum environment. 
    • As a Business Analyst in Retail IT you will be responsible for working with key stakeholders to understand business direction, propose solutions, provide insight into business problems, and assist the domain in the implementation of long-term solutions.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Identify themes and trends within area of responsibility, appreciate inherent risks and highlight change opportunities.
    • Liaise with stakeholders to determine priorities and effective solutions to meet business requirements. This includes collaborating closely with architects and technical teams to ensure alignment on solution design.
    • Analyse and document business and system requirements for front-end applications, REST APIs, and integrations.
    • Interpret and review API specifications and define integration requirements for internal teams.

    • We are looking for a detail-oriented and client-focused individual to join our Death Validations team within the Retail Division. This role involves managing death notifications and validating claims across Life and Discretionary products. The successful candidate will ensure accurate, timely, and diligent processing of instructions received from beneficiaries, executors, and independent financial advisers (IFAs). 
    • This position requires strong process and systems knowledge, excellent client service skills, and the ability to resolve queries efficiently. 

    Responsibilities

    • Validate and verify death notification documents. 
    • Process death claim instructions for Life products (AGLA, AGEN, AGTF). 
    • Ensure all instructions are complete and ready for processing by relevant administration teams.
