    IT Technician

    Job Description

    • One of the largest corporate-owned auto parts retailer and wholesaler in Southern Africa is seeking an IT Technician who will provide comprehensive hands-on and telephonic IT support, hardware repairs, and system troubleshooting.

    Responsibilities:

    • Hardware & OS Maintenance: Install, configure, and maintain Windows and Linux/Ubuntu PCs, laptops, and peripheral hardware across all branches.
    • Printer Management: Install, configure, and calibrate business printers; manage and maintain the branch loan printer pool.
    • Repairs: Ensure all hardware repairs are completed and shipped out to branches timeously.
    • Domain Administration: Manage user accounts, password resets, and profile unlocking within Active Directory.
    • Network Troubleshooting: Monitor and troubleshoot LAN/WAN, ADSL, 3G, Wi-Fi, and VoIP issues; escalate complex network queries to the Network Administrator.
    • Email Administration: Troubleshoot mail accounts and manage mail server queues (releasing/deleting large emails).
    • Helpdesk Operations: Provide remote and telephonic support, resolving tickets logged in the Unibase job system within SLA.
    • Software Deployment: Install and configure core OS and 3rd-party software (e.g., Unibase Emulator, ProClarity, internal catalogues).
    • Vendor Liaison: Collaborate with Unibase consultants to resolve ERP system and branch printing issues.

    Minimum Responsibilities:

    • Education: Matric (Grade 12) essential; a relevant IT qualification is highly advantageous.

    Experience:

    • Minimum 3 years of hands-on IT hardware support experience.
    • Minimum 2 years of telephonic helpdesk support experience.
    • Technical Proficiency: Microsoft Active Directory, MS Office (Word/Excel), and Unibase Emulator.
    • License: Valid Code 08 driver’s license.
