Junior Freight Forwarder - Ekurhuleni (East Rand) at Unique Personnel

Main Purpose of the Job

• Responsible to deliver on all operational activities related to Exports, Port Operations and Imports, liaising with services providers, ensuring that all shipments are executed efficiently and cost effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operations and Invoicing:
• Execute the logistics processes, to ensure client needs are met in a timeous manner.
• Ensure compliance with the countries customs, shipping regulations, quality requirements and safety procedures.
• Prepare shipping documentation for custom purposes.
• Execute and organise all activities related to the logistics for customers.
• Freight Forwarding in respect of specific transport movements.
• Ensure that all client requirements are met to the service level agreed and proactively communicate any potential issues.
• Provide quick and responsive service.
• Build relationships with the upstream and downstream supply chain, external service providers and clients.
• Ensure that all quality, safety and environment system controls are complied with.
• Update weekly/ monthly reports as required for internal and external reporting.
• Prepare estimates and provide feedback for submission to client.
• Ensure that services provided are in line with the quote provided to the clients.
• Verifying service provider’s invoices.
• Finalise the shipment file, consolidating invoices and accounts reconciliation.
• Submission to Finance for Invoicing
• Imports:
• Execute imports processes efficiently
• Check and confirm shipment documentation for correctness for imports (INCO terms; values; Tariff codes etc.)
• Clearance and delivery of shipment in compliance with the countries customs, shipping regulations, quality requirements and safety procedures.
• Prepare estimates and provide feedback for submission to client.
• to ensure timeous execution of operations.
• as required for internal and external reporting
• Supplier Relationships and Maintenance:
• Build relationships with suppliers and Freight Forwarders.
• Site visits, accompanied by Supervisor/ Manager to Service Providers especially new and local service providers
• Query Resolution:
• Ensure assigned queries are resolved within KPI.
• Effective query resolution, to avoid reoccurrence.

Inherent Requirements    

Qualifications, Skills & Attributes:

• Relevant tertiary degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or Industrial Engineering.
• 3 - 5 years working experience in a relative role.
• Strong focus on customer satisfaction
• Excellent interpersonal skills to be able to deal with both service providers and customers
• Good problem solving skills
• Experience in freight forwarding industry
• Broad range of experience gained from supply chain, logistics, transportation and forwarding.
• Good planning, organising and controlling skills
• Good time management, operationally driven and results focused
• Attention to detail
• Experience with Word & Excel
• Working knowledge of SAP
