Junior Mechanical Technician - Umkomaas at Sappi

• We’re on the lookout for an experienced Junior Mechanical Technician to provide technical support to the Mechanical and related departments, specifically relating to plant optimization, fault diagnosis, maintenance, and projects in order to maximize the availability of the plant.

As a Junior Mechanical Technician, you will be responsible for:

• Assist with the updating of maintenance schedules for plant equipment in consultation with the Engineer and foreman
• Assist with shut planning, preparation, and execution
• Management of SAP PM orders which are related to minor projects
• Monitor conformance of modifications/projects to Mill Change Management Procedures, Mill Standard Specifications, Mill Safety Standards, and the OHS Act
• Optimise equipment performance and availability
• Update all modifications and project drawings as required
• Provide technical support to the maintenance sections including operations in troubleshooting, researching, and investigating new equipment and technology
• Fault-finding malfunctions of mechanical equipment within the plant
• Consult condition monitoring reports, DCS trends, and other information in order to determine mechanical problems on equipment
• Complete plant modifications/project work from concept to commissioning and closeout
• Assist with project planning horizon 1-3 months in advance, having a thorough understanding of the requirements of the project and managing a budget in line with project timelines

   What are we looking for?

• Relevant NQF level 6 qualification (National Diploma Mechanical Engineering or related field)
• Minimum 1-year relevant experience within a heavy industry environment
