Junior Systems Implementation Specialist (JHB Hybrid) at Datafin Recruitment

ENVIRONMENT:

• A provider of tailored Financial Solutions in Joburg seeks an ambitious and strong technical Junior Systems Implementation Specialist to support the delivery, adoption, and ongoing effectiveness of the company's insurance administration systems.
• Working under the guidance of the Implementation Specialist Team Leader, you will contribute to system release activities, training support, and field agent assistance, building deep knowledge of systems and funeral insurance products over time.
• This is a developmental role suited to an early-career individual with a strong interest in systems, insurance operations, and stakeholder support. It offers structured mentorship and a clear pathway to grow into a fully independent Implementation Specialist.

DUTIES:

Release Testing & Deployment Support –

• Assist the Testing team with Functional, Regression, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) cycles under the guidance of senior colleagues.
• Help document and communicate defects or unexpected behaviours encountered during testing.
• Provide support during system release deployments, including occasional after-hours involvement, learning smoke-testing and validation practices.

Training Support –

• Assist in preparing and maintaining training materials for internal staff and the field agent network.
• Support the delivery of training sessions, progressing towards leading sessions independently.
• Help keep training documentation aligned with current Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and system changes.

​​​​​​​Field Agent & User Support –

• Respond to routine system and product queries from field agents and internal users, escalating complex issues to the Senior Specialist.
• Build product knowledge of the company's funeral insurance offerings, including rules, benefits, and processing requirements.
• Log recurring issues and feedback themes to support system and training improvements.

​​​​​​​Post-Release & Disaster Recovery Support –

• Assist with post-release support activities, including triaging user-reported issues and tracking resolutions.
• Support Disaster Recovery (DR) testing activities, including user coordination and documentation of outcomes.

REQUIREMENTS:

Qualifications –

• Relevant Degree or Diploma in Information Systems, IT, Business, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.

​​​​​​​Experience/Skills –

• 0 to 2 Years' experience in a Systems Support, Testing, Insurance Administration, or related operational role.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Good analytical and problem-solving ability, with strong attention to detail.
• Comfortable working with business software systems and learning new applications quickly.
• Willingness to work occasional after-hours during system releases.

• Exposure to the insurance industry, ideally funeral or life insurance products.
• Experience with software testing or UAT processes.
• Familiarity with Agile ways of working.
• Experience developing or delivering training content.
