Junior Technical Analyst at Silica

Key Performance Areas: (Specific Description of the job)

• Analyse client requirements
• Determine work to be done to meet client requirements
• Document functional requirements
• Determine impact of system changes proposed
• Develop user stories
• Peer review user stories
• Provide estimates for stories to be completed
• Good understanding of Structured Query Language and experience in writing SQL queries
• Attend daily standup meetings and drive team delivery within the team
• Collaboration with developers
• Conduct JAD sessions internally, with developers and with clients
• Development of test packs, including test cases and test scripts
• Automation of test packs
• Execution of test packs for software implementations
• Continuous communication with team members and relevant stakeholders
• Documentation of defects and test results during the testing phase of the SDLC
• Ensuring that all software releases have been tested to an acceptable standard
• Assistance with User Acceptance Testing for clients - provide UAT support to the business and external clients.
• Gain a thorough knowledge of the software applications provided by Silica
• Gain a good understanding of the financial industry and relevant business sectors serviced by Silica.
• Do root cause analysis of problems
• Assist with production support from time to time
• Identify problems and provide solutions applicable to relevant systems

Prior Work Experience / Background:

• Knowledge of the financial industry (preferably Investment Banking)
• Experience on a testing tool (not mandatory, but an advantage)
• Understanding of the System Development Life Cycle and knowledge on working with systems
• System Analysis experience advantageous
• Experience with data integration / STP initiatives advantageous
• Experience with testing of services advantageous

Technical / Special Requirements:

• JAD facilitation skills
• Proficiency in MS Office
• Analysis (Business and Functional) and testing experience in the SDLC
• Ability to write and interpret database queries using SQL
• Knowledge of the role of Business Analysis, Systems Analysis and Quality Assurance within the system development life cycle
• Knowledge of Agile Methodologies
• Knowledge of SOA architecture

Educational Requirements:

• Matric essential
• Business Degree or Diploma (in related industry) advantageous
• Business Analyst Diploma advantageous
• Formal business analysis training advantageous
• Formal testing training advantageous
