Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

Overall business management of the Laboratory

• Ensure a Safe and Healthy working environment for all employees in terms of SHER
• Analysis completed in time within agreed standards and adherence to SLA.
• Timeous and accurate presentation of documentation, statistics and reports
• Costs to budget
• Supplier and customer satisfaction
• Sustain harmonious employee relations
• Effective HRD in the laboratory
• Asset Management
• Implement and monitor Corporate Governance directives
• Sound business decisions within the Value Based Management Framework
• Ensure employment equity according to Company Policy
• Recommend appropriate policies and strategies for Laboratory in accordance with corporate direction and policies
• Safety trends and indicators
• Ensure that the Laboratory has the resources it requires
• Define goals and measurements with involvement of team
• members
• Team trained on applicable systems
• Project plans completed within specified schedule and standards
• Support the overall management of the applicable Business Areas
• Sound business decisions within the Value Based Management Framework
• Maintain the ISO accreditations.
• Compliance to SLA
• Support the HOD team to achieve improved performance
• Input of ideas for Process Division decisions
• Compliance to resource and costing budget
• This role is at a Band 6 level reporting to the Process GM Refining

Qualifications:

• 4-year Chemistry degree

Experience

• At least 7 years laboratory processing experience of which 3 years should be at a management level.

Knowledge and Skills

• XRF, ICP OES, Spark operations
• PGM and Base metals sampling
• Analytical techniques and Lab ware
• People Management Development
• Sound knowledge of identifying new technologies to support accuracy and cost-effective methods of analysis
