Labour Relations Consultant at Kempston Recruitment

• We are seeking an experienced candidate for the role of Labour Relations Consultant. 
• This individual will be tasked with providing specialist support across labour relations, employee engagement, workplace compliance, and investigations. This role offers the opportunity to partner closely with management and drive best-practice people processes. 

Minimum Skills and Requirements: 

• Completed Matric
• Degree in HR Management/ Labour Relations – preferred
• 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role / industrial relations OR previous experience at management level
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office; specifically, Excel for reporting purposes
• Applicants must be prepared to travel as and when required
• Valid drivers’ license – essential
• Honest and trustworthy in approach to tasks 
• Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Duties and Responsibilities: 
The successful candidate would be required but not limited to:

• Initiate/Chair disciplinary enquiries
• Carry out disciplinary investigations
• IR processes including: Employee engagement (disgruntled, demotivated, corrective behaviour intervention, disciplinary warnings etc.); Management engagement (following proper process etc
• Internal HR related policy updates
• CCMA representation: Conciliations; Arbitrations
• Facilitate and conduct IR/HR training: Effective Discipline; Effective Disciplinary Enquiries; Effective Disciplinary Investigations; 189 and s198 processes
• Responsible for attending to site/office visits
• Employee/Managerial management on implemented processes and follow ups
• Atten to grievances
• Assisting with criminal investigations
• Assisting with investigations and compiling evidence
• Interview internal as well as external parties
• Draft affidavits/statements
• Register criminal cases
• Hand over full investigation to SAPS and work closely with SAPS on cases
• Liaising with the assigned lawyer / advocate
• Feedback and follow ups with SAPS, lawyer/s and advocate/s
• Maintain good relationships with SAPS, lawyer/s and advocate/s
• Court attendance
• Providing guidance and assistance to colleagues where necessary
• Carrying out operational and quality assessments
• Compile reports for respective managers and divisional managers 
• Assisting with follow up assessments ensuring previous anomalies have been rectified
• Ensure policies and processes are being adhered to
• Assist in drafting policies which are finalised and approved by the organisations compliance division
• Assisting with whistle-blower enquiries via phone and email
• Redirecting all HR issues to the managers and divisional managers 
• Assisting with the opening of files and maintaining up to date information, as well as the updating of relevant spreadsheets
