Lecturer (2 Positions): Department of Architecture (Job ID 5627) at University of the Free State

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Teach the following at undergraduate or post graduate level: architecture design studio, together with a lecture-based module/s such as history and theory of architecture, architectural representation (CAD, computer rendering, digital fabrication, photography, presentation techniques) and professional practice.
• Conduct research.
• Mentor students towards design dissertations. 

Inherent Job Requirements:

Lecturer

• A PhD in Architecture on NQF Level 10 (for a permanent appointment) 

or

• A professional master’s degree in architecture on NQF Level 9 (contract appointment: five years during which a PhD on NQF Level 10 in Architecture or related discipline MUST be obtained to be converted to a permanent appointment).
• A portfolio of architectural designs that demonstrate competence and innovation.
• Evidence of manuscripts produced that have the potential to be converted or submitted for publication in accredited journals.
• A good academic record (please attach).

Recommendations:

• Research interest in one or more of the following areas: architectural history and theory, architectural design or construction.
• Registration with the South African Council for the Architectural Profession, or similar. 
• Professional or academic work experience.
