Lecturer/Junior Lecturer: Mathematics and Mathematics Didactics at Cape Peninsula University of Technology

Minimum Requirements: Lecturer

• A Master`s degree relevant to the field of Mathematics and Mathematics Didactics, to teach in the Foundation Phase and Early Childhood Development at the Wellington campus
• Mathematics Didactics at undergraduate level
• At least five years' relevant teaching experience at primary school level or two years relevant lecturing experience at tertiary level
• Learning support for and in multilingual classrooms
• Ability to teach through the medium of Afrikaans

Recommendations:

• A relevant doctoral degree
• Relevant research output

Please note that preference will be given to candidates who meet the requirements at Lecturer level.

• A relevant Honours degree relevant to the teaching in Foundation Phase and/or Early Childhood Education and Mathematics Education at undergraduate level.
• A relevant teaching qualification.
• At least three (3) years’ relevant teaching experience at primary school level or two (2) years' relevant lecturing experience at tertiary level.

• Teaching Mathematics and Mathematics Didactics in the Foundation Phase department.
• Curriculum development and other learning materials.
• Supervising students on teaching practice.
• Competence in the pedagogy of technology integration in learning, teaching, and assessment.
• Research and involvement in research activities (publications and supervision).
• Academic administration and development.
• Assessment and quality assurance.
• Networking with schools and other networks.
• Community engagement.
• Coaching and mentoring of students and staff.
• Learner focus and learner support in multilingual classrooms.
• Ability to align yourself to hybrid teaching and learning models (face-to-face and on-line learning).
• Perform other functions as may be assigned by the Head of Department.
