Lecturer (One Post), Department of Religion Studies, Faculty of Theology and Religion at University of Pretoria/Universiteit van Pretoria

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Teaching at undergraduate levels in the subject field of Religion Studies;
• Conducting scholarly research in the field of Religion Studies;
• Mentoring students at the undergraduate level;
• Performing academic administration and management;
• Performing other duties as delegated by the Head of the Department.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• A relevant master’s degree in theology;
• At least one (1) accredited quality journal publication;
• Some academic administration experience in academic administration and knowledge of departmental committees.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):

• Good communication Skills;
• Competent writing skills;
• Willingness to learn (i.e., Learning Management System and the use of technology enhancing learning);
• Be able to work in a team.

ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:

• Community engagement in a related field would be a recommendation.

The annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbent’s level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines. UP subscribes to the BESTMED and UMVUZO medical aid schemes and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
