JOB PURPOSE
- Reporting to the Executive Director: People and Culture, the incumbent will lead the implementation of a people strategy that supports institutional excellence, ensures compliance, and advances institutional transformation.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- A Master’s degree in Human Resources Management, Industrial Psychology, or a related field.
- At least 10 years of leadership experience within a large and complex organisation with at least 5 years at a senior management level.
- Extensive knowledge of labour legislation, governance frameworks, and HR best practices.
- A minimum of five(5) years of proven senior management experience in the following:
- Organisational change and leadership development.
- Leading the implementation of HR or people strategy in medium to large organisations.

Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will:
- Assist in implementing the TuksAthletics Academy coaching philosophy and long-term athlete development (LTAD) pathway for sprint and hurdles athletes.
- Deliver high-quality daily coaching sessions that are developmentally appropriate, progressive and aligned with the Academy's annual performance plan.

JOB PURPOSE:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To provide the University with cost-effective quality support in respect of student discipline, litigation, contracts, labour matters, governance and compliance, trademarks, training and to provide general legal advice within the institution.
Key responsibilities include:
Under the supervision of the relevant Deputy-Director:
Student Discipline
- Ensuring that all reported cases of student misconduct are dealt with in accordance with the Disciplinary Code: Students;
- Negotiating and finalising plea and penalty agreements with students who wish to plead guilty in accordance with the formal plea and penalty procedure in the Code;
- See to it that the formal disciplinary procedure is followed in respect of cases which are referred to the Disciplinary Committee (Students);
- Assisting with formulating policy guidelines with regard to the discipline of students;
- Managing the process administratively by seeing to it that the outcome of student disciplinary proceedings is communicated to all relevant stakeholders.
Legal Advice
- Providing legal advice and draft legal opinions as and when requested;
- Reviewing of and advising on the impact of proposed and/ or new legislation / regulations / statutory and policy frameworks applicable to the University;
- Drafting of letters of demand and engaging in debt collection measures on behalf of the University, Tukssport, Tukssport Study Centre NPC and other clients, as instructed.
- Assisting with managing the University's Trade Mark Portfolio;
- Assisting with providing advice on Copyright and Trademark infringements and, in consultation with the Information Governance Division, on Promotion of Access to Information Act (PAIA) and Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) matters.
- Assisting with University litigation as when necessary;
- Assisting with and furnishing Attorney and Counsel with any relevant documentation or information as requested;
- Attending court proceedings on behalf of the University.

Labour Relations
- Compiling and or providing advice on the drafting of disciplinary charges.

- Assisting with Union related matters, including the drafting and reviewing of recognition agreements, collective agreements, picketing rules, HR policies, grievance matters, strike management, etc;
- Overseeing employment litigation matters in various courts, the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) and other forums;
- Providing legal opinions on employment matters.
- Providing general training to internal and external stakeholders in terms of the University pol legislation, disciplinary processes for staff and students, labour law and contracts.
- Provide any other training based on development needs identified by the Director and the Deputy Directors.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- LLB degree;
- Admission as an attorney or advocate;
- One year post-admission experience in the following areas:
- Experience in a law practice or an environment in which legal advice is given and legal risks are managed, as well as responsibility is assumed for the legal outcomes of legal processes;

- Process and review payroll reports for terminations, secondary appointments and leave credits;
- Review the reports on medical aid, duplicate primary job rows, and multiple active tax records, then run the exception reports to find discrepancies between member and employee records for active tax records and UIF status — investigating and correcting any exceptions found;
- Set up monthly cut-off calendar dates on the Human Capital System;
- Update the Payroll System with new month's payroll run;
- Monitor and run daily payroll executions to ensure completeness of payroll expense;
- Review exception reports for monthly tax, unemployment insurance fund and skills development levies and resolve differences;
- Reconcile interim cash focus payments to actual monies paid to employees, and compile a monthly reconciliation of all interim payments;
- Supervise and manage the day-to-day work allocation of Payroll Officer, ensuring adherence to payroll deadlines, internal controls, and compliance with the relevant legislation regarding income tax, unemployment insurance fund and skills development levies;
- Manage leave for reporting staff, including planning and approving leave applications to ensure adequate team coverage throughout the payroll cycle;
- Manage the performance development of reporting staff, including setting objectives, conducting performance reviews, and identifying training and development needs;
- Verify daily all postdoctoral (Post Doc) payments ensuring that they are correctly processed;
- Liaise and ensure that submitted files are approved for the payroll month and signed off by the relevant personnel;
- Run and review the daily comparison between the Human Capital System and Psiber Payroll, investigate variances, and resolve or escalate discrepancies timeously;
- Review any errors from the Labour department;
- Adhere and comply with internal control measures and audit procedures;
- Test processes and controls on relevant programs created for payroll exception reports;
- Conduct a review of all third-party recons and to ensure that payments balance to the system deduction totals. Ensure that member contributions and employer contributions compare to total deductions, taking cognisance of required adjustments on the recons;
- Balance the monthly salary control accounts to relevant recons and deductions totals.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- BCom degree in Accounting, Finance, or Human Resources;
- Four (4) years’ experiences in the following:
- Payroll experience;
- Financial experience;
- Psiber Payroll System Experience;
- ERP System Experience;
- Advanced Excel Experience;
- Two (2) years experience in a supervisory role;
- Staff development experience;
- Performance Management Experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will actively participate in the following areas:
Programme Administration
- Organises and oversees the Veterinary/Nursing Elective Practice module as a veterinary academic coordinator.
- Monitor and evaluate students placed in veterinary practices, clinics, or community-based learning sites for their extramural training.
- Ensures compliance with Faculty, University, and regulatory requirements of the BVSc and BVN syllabus.
Student Support
- Provide a guidance document for students entering into elective practice areas aligned with the areas indicated in the study guides.
- Provides mentorship and ensures students meet Day 1 competency skills expected of a new veterinary graduate.
- Monitors student progress and evaluates performance reports from extramural practical rotations, and flags concerns for remedial action.
Community & Practice Liaison
- Acts as the link between the university and external veterinary practices.
- Builds partnerships with clinics, farms, and community organisations to maintain a list of practices willing to assist with extramural training.
- Develop a system of internal accreditation and evaluation of practices, including training of practice staff in evaluation practices.
- Undertake random screening of practices, based on budgetary restrictions, to evaluate students active within said practices.
Quality Assurance
- Ensures that the practical experiences students gain are relevant to Day One skills, and if not, applies corrective action.
- Reviews and updates elective practice guidelines to maintain academic standards.
- Collects feedback from students and partner practices to improve the programme.
Clinical Support
- Undertake a limited number of weeks of clinical activities at the OVAH, preferably in the community clinics, to ensure clinical skills remain relevant for the evaluation of extra-mural activities.
Academic & Research Engagement
- Network with relevant internal and external stakeholders.
- Deliver lectures, seminars, tutorials, and assessments.
- Support curriculum development and improvement.
- Actively participate in faculty research programmes and service-rendering activities.
- Publish research in national and international journals.
- Undertake faculty administrative duties as delegated by the line manager.
- Engage in community outreach activities.
- Pursue academic self-development appropriate to career progression.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- A BVSc or BVMCh degree or an equivalent veterinary qualification;
- Registration (or registrable) as a Veterinarian with SAVC; and
- Demonstrate the potential to become a competent lecturer at the undergraduate level.
