    Lecturer: OT

    • The Division of Occupational Therapy seeks to appoint a Lecturer to a full-time permanent Lecturer position. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the Division through teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students and research in Occupational Therapy, predominantly in Foundations of Occupational Therapy, Occupational Science and Work Practice.
    • The successful candidate will also, where needed, contribute to other domains of practice. The incumbent will also contribute to Departmental and Faculty activities.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy
    • Master’s qualification in Occupational Therapy or a relevant discipline
    • Registered for a Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy or a relevant discipline
    • Registered and compliant with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as an Occupational Therapist
    • Demonstrable knowledge of Foundations of Occupational Therapy practice, Occupational Science and Work Practice
    • Two years of experience in Work Practice
    • Two years of experience in teaching, tutoring and clinical supervision of undergraduate occupational therapy students
    • Excellent interpersonal abilities
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    The following will be advantageous:

    • Doctoral qualification in Occupational Therapy or a relevant discipline
    • Actively engaged in research and generating publications 
    • Experience with postgraduate supervision
    • Demonstrable contributions to equity, diversity, transformation, and socially responsive practice

    Responsibilities include:

    • Undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research supervision 
    • Initiate and develop scholarship aligned with Divisional and Departmental vision
    • Practice learning supervision of up to four students across practice learning sites 
    • Travel to practice learning sites for supervision
    • Build and sustain partnerships with practice sites, policy bodies, and professional networks.
    • Curriculum development and review
    • Development of appropriate teaching and learning materials
    • Administrative, managerial and leadership duties at Divisional and Departmental level
