    Lecturer: OT

    • The Division of Occupational Therapy seeks to appoint a Lecturer to a full-time permanent Lecturer position. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the Division through teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students and research in Occupational Therapy, predominantly in Foundations of Occupational Therapy, Occupational Science and Work Practice.

    Requirements:

    Administrative Assistant

    UCT's Communication and Marketing Department (CMD) invites applications for a competent, experienced Administrative Assistant to provide efficient administrative support and contribute to the department's effective functioning in a high-pressure environment.

    • To provide comprehensive administrative support to all units within the Communication and Marketing department, including all HR & Finance-related administrative tasks.

    Medical Officer (1-Year Contract)

    • The Desmond Tutu HIV Centre (DTHC), based at the Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS), is committed to the pursuit of excellence in research, treatment, training, and prevention of HIV and related infections in South Africa.
    • This 1-year contract position will be based at the DTHC Gugulethu Research Offices in Gugulethu, Cape Town. The main purpose of this position is to render efficient and effective clinical care to volunteers on antiretroviral therapy and tuberculosis research studies.
    • We seek a dynamic individual to join our research team as Medical Officer. We invite applications for a full-time (40 hours per week) one-year fixed term contract medical officer post working across multiple studies within the DTHC Centre for Adherence and Therapeutics (D-CAT).
    • The position is well suited for a doctor who has an interest in working in HIV/TB research.

    Requirements for the job:

    • MBChB; with active HPCSA registration as an independent practitioner Within 3 years of completion of community service
    • Demonstrated clinical knowledge, including competence in clinical management of people living with HIV.

    Sustainability Specialist

    • The main purpose being to lead a selection of technical projects, programmes, and activities within the Environmental Sustainability unit, under the director’s guidance, including:
    • Green building construction projects at UCT (that are delivered by Properties & Services)
    • UCT’s water and energy savings implementation plans and projects and carbon footprint reporting
    • UCT’s waste strategy and implementation plans, and various waste related projects
    • Other sustainability related projects, including health, wellness, ecology etc. (related to UCT’s Environmental Sustainability Strategy)
    • Leading various project sustainability related feasibility studies and developing business cases to demonstrate project viability (in many cases the detailed work will be done by consultants, but not always, and projects require leadership and direction)
    • Hosting sustainability related workshops and training from time to time for colleagues, or giving a guest lecture to students
    • Engaging with other UCT departments to initiate, lead or collaborate on sustainability related projects with them
    • Writing reports, presentations, and news articles on sustainability related projects at UCT

    REQUIREMENTS FOR THE JOB

    • BSc Engineering, BSc (Hons) Property Studies, BSc (Hons) Construction Management, BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying, Architectural Studies (Hons), BSc (Hons) Environmental Sciences or equivalent, at (NQF 8)
    • OR a master’s degree (NQF9) in any of the above  related fields  or sustainability related field, e.g. climate change, sustainable urban development etc (even if the Hons degree was not in one of these disciplines). 
    • At least 5 years relevant working experience within the built environment, construction, and certified green buildings, including the GBCSA green building certification process and undertaking an organisational carbon footprint.

    Senior Research Scientist: Analytical Chemist

    REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB:

    • BTech Analytical Chemistry / Advanced Diploma in analytical chemistry (NQF7) or a related field
    • At least 2 years’ relevant lab experience actively working with HPLC/LCMS and troubleshooting analytical and technical problems and method development (this may include internships, apprenticeships etc.)

    Designated Veterinarian

    • We seek to attract a suitably qualified and experienced veterinarian to the post of Designated Veterinarian in the University of Cape Town’s (UCT) Research Animal Facilities in the Faculty of Health Sciences.
