Lecturer(Ref. JL13) Department: Statistics at Durban University of Technology

Minimum requirements:

• A Master’s degree in Applied or Mathematical Statistics
• At least 3 years lecturing experience
• Evidence of publication in international and national peer reviewed journals
• A broad understanding of current research developments and teaching trends within the discipline
• Knowledge and experience of various statistical software packages such as SPSS, SAS, R

Summary of duties:

• Perform related administrative and academic duties
• To conduct lectures and practical assessments in a classroom and computer laboratory setting
• The ability to strengthen the department in the delivery of quality teaching and learning
• The ability to initiate various research projects and aid in the growth of research output of the department
• To demonstrate effective communication skills, strong leadership abilities and excellent management and administrative skills.
• Community engagement with relevant statistical institutes
• Collaborate and engage with other Universities and key stakeholders in industry
• Entrepreneurial skills to broaden opportunities for third stream income in the department
• Departmental Quality Monitoring
• Experience in e-Learning
