Lecturer(Ref. JL23) (Clothing Management) at Durban University of Technology

Minimum Requirements:

• Master’s Degree (within the discipline of apparel or related areas). Undergraduate studies can include apparel technology subjects.
• Sound knowledge of the technical aspects of apparel including patternmaking, construction, quality, work-study, production methods, and raw materials.
• A minimum of 2 years relevant teaching/ relevant apparel industry experience – e.g. in technology, manufacturing processes and/or business. (Teaching or training experience in relevant, Higher Education, industry or training institutions).

Additional Recommendations

• Demonstrate a solid portfolio of work and traceable references.
• Prior teaching experience at Higher Education level will be highly advantageous.
• Practical industry or retail experience in clothing related areas.
• Strong team player, high level of initiative, highly motivated, ability to network.

Summary of Duties:

• Lecture in apparel product and process related subjects or where required as deemed necessary by the Head of Department.
• Preparation and delivery of lectures and practicals, and assessment of student work.
• Assist in the curriculum development of appropriate course material.
• Perform administrative duties assigned by the Head of Department.
• Participate in departmental life including community engagement and research.
