Lecturer: Visual Communication Design x2 at Cape Peninsula University of Technology

Job Purpose

• To support the faculty and department in pursuit of its academic and research objectives which include to: teach according to a set syllabus; undertake research and innovation; contribute to curriculum development and design; engage in work integrated learning, and service learning activities.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• A Master’s Degree in Visual Communication Design or Graphic Design
• At least two (2) years’ relevant lecturing experience in Higher Education
• Advanced working knowledge of photography for VCD, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, In Design, After Effects and Adobe XD

Recommendations

• At least three (2) years’ industry experience in the field of Visual Communication Design
• Knowledge of Design for Social innovation, Design for Sustainability, Open-source software

Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities

• Lectures subjects within the field of Visual Communication Design
• Participate in curriculum development
• Perform appropriate academic and administrative duties in the Department
• Participate in the Quality Assurance activities of the Department
• Participate in research
• Contribute to community initiatives by integrating community interventions into curriculum.
• Develop and maintain linkages with industry and professional bodies on co-operative education, new techniques/technologies and research projects
• Assist with marketing and recruitment activities
• Perform other functions as may be assigned by the Head of Department
