Legal Advisor at Bryte Insurance Company Limited

The opportunity

Bryte is looking for an experienced and competent Legal Advisor who will provide an effective legal service to the Group and conduct legal research, provide legal impact analysis and advice to ensure awareness on new laws.

Key Accountabilities

Functional Management

• Relevant Legal Degree - Essential
• Admitted to practice as an attorney or advocate - Advantageous
• Postgraduate qualification
• 3-5 Years post admission experience as a legal advisor in the insurance and financial services industry
• Experience in the insurance industry specifically short term and long-term insurance essential
• Exposure to Compliance, highly preferred

Stakeholder Management

Stakeholders include:

• The Regulators and other authorities
• EXCO
• Functional Business Heads
• Develop and maintain external networks with key individuals, associations and regulatory authorities in the financial and insurance industry; keep abreast of industry developments and actively monitor legal trends, so as to anticipate the business impact of regulatory changes, prepare appropriate responses and support the business in defining actions as seen fit.

Education and Experience

•  Admitted Attorney
• Minimum LLB or equivalent Legal Qualification
• At least 3 years post admission experience in litigation, Short-term insurance and contract drafting (Non- Negotiable)
• Exposure to Compliance, highly preferred 

Tasks and Experience

• Actively contributes to the local business strategy from a legal perspective
• Experience in the insurance industry life and non-life insurance essential
• Good knowledge about the laws applicable in the financial services industry
• Analysing various legislation, regulations and policies and providing an impact analysis
• Knowledge about the product and services offered in the industry
• Knowledge about the principles of contract drafting
• Strong drafting, interpretation and vetting of contracts skills and expertise
• Good understanding of dispute resolutiobProvide and/or facilitate delivery of legal advice, guidance and support to enable the business to achieve its business imperatives
• Creates and fosters an environment of open, transparent, and direct communication and feedback
• Managing litigation processes
• Researching and analysing the implications of case law, legislation and regulatory matters
• Strong negotiating skills
• Draft legal opinions, policies, memoranda and other related legal documents
• Independently conclude legal due diligence
• Experience in commercial transactions,  Mergers & Acquisitions
• Company secretariat work
