Key Performance Output

The successful candidate for Upington Airport will be reporting to the Regional General Manager Cluster 2, and will be responsible for the following:

• Develop and implement airport specific plans aligned with ACSA strategy. 
• Develop a business plan and ensure strategic objectives are formulated, executed, and achieved.
• Visionary leadership - provide direction, ensuring execution of the airport vision and strategic objectives and achievement of expected results.  
• Ensure efficient end to end operational performance, the highest level of customer service and an improved airport experience.
• Ensure space allocation and infrastructure for non-aeronautical activities are optimized. 
• Manage and monitor airport CAPEX and OPEX budgets.
• Ensure sound financial and business practices.
• Identify and manage key risks.
• Provide a safe and secure airport environment through compliance with relevant legislation frameworks.
• Ensure good quality engagement and relationships with airlines and all relevant stakeholders, internal and external.
• Accountable for direct reports performance through effective management within policies and procedures.
• Manage people development initiatives, succession planning and talent management to meet functional performance standards.

Technical Skills and Experience

The following skills and experience will be required:

• Relevant 3-year bachelor’s degree coupled with a minimum of 7 years of airport operations experience and 5 years management experience.  
• Knowledge and experience in the development, implementation and management of a business plan is critical.  Experience related to Airport’s business plans will be advantageous.
• In-depth understanding and knowledge of the end-to-end processes and the improvement of the associated processes. 
• Working knowledge of financial management, contracts management, risk management and tender procedures is essential.
• Strong experience in people management is essential.
• Previous experience with Government structures will be advantageous.
• Proficient with report writing with a strong track record with the development of manuals, job descriptions and procedures.
