Our client, a leading South African manufacturer of processed meat products supplying major retailers, wholesalers and food-service customers, is seeking an experienced Logistics Manager to manage end-to-end logistics across four factories. The role is responsible for warehousing, transport, distribution, inventory and cold-chain integrity, with a strong focus on service delivery and cost control.
Minimum Qualifications
Matric / Grade 12 essential, Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain or Operations preferred
Proven logistics management experience within FMCG, food manufacturing or cold-chain distribution
Multi-site warehouse and transport management experience
Strong knowledge of inventory control, transport planning and 3PL management
Working knowledge of food safety, traceability and cold-chain requirements
Strong Excel, ERP/WMS/TMS and reporting skills
Proven team management experience
Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel
Meat or perishable goods experience advantageous
Key Responsibilities
Manage inbound raw materials, inter-factory transfers, warehousing and outbound distribution across four factories
Plan and manage own-fleet and outsourced transport to meet customer delivery requirements
Ensure cold-chain compliance and product integrity throughout the distribution process
Oversee warehouse, dispatch, inventory accuracy, picking and loading operations
Manage 3PL and transport contracts, rates, service levels and claims
Work closely with Production, Procurement, Quality and Sales to align supply and customer requirements
Monitor logistics KPIs, costs, inventory and service levels and drive continuous improvement
Lead, develop and roster warehouse, dispatch and logistics teams across multiple sites
Implement and maintain SOPs covering receiving, storage, dispatch, returns and traceability
Identify opportunities to improve routing, capacity utilisation, backhauls and overall cost-to-serve
