Logistics Manager at Kempston Recruitment

• Our client is seeking a Logistics Manager, to join their team. The role is based in JHB, Gauteng and would suit someone familiar with the area.

Minimum skills and experience required:

• Fluent in English and Afrikaans
• 5-10 years logistics management experience
• Hard working and self motivated
• Experience in managing local and cross-border deliveries
• A university degree is advantageous

Duties and Responsibilities:
Fleet and Operations Oversight

• Load/Route planning: Building and planning loads for various customers daily. Communicating with warehouse managers and drivers to ensure loads are completed efficiently.
• Vehicle Maintenance: Inspecting vehicles and managing maintenance staff. In charge of overseeing repairs, timelines and reconning of tyres, parts and tools.
• Fleet monitors: Communicating with fleet controllers throughout the day to resolve delays and manage communication with clients in order to resolve issues on the road or at the shops/warehouses.

Management and Finance

• Team Leadership: Directing drivers, dispatchers, and support staff.
• Budget Control: Managing departmental operational and capital costs.
• Record Keeping: Communicating with administrative staff to manage and maintain driver overtime.
• Payment loading: Load daily payments for operational expenses (Tolls; Night outs; casuals; border fees) for CEO to review and approve.
