    Logistics Scheduler - Dangerous Goods - 6 Month Contract

    • Our client in explosive manufacturing is seeking to hire a Logistics Scheduler with relevant experience on a 6 month fixed term contract.

    Requirements:

    • National Diploma in Supply Chain, Engineering or Logistics  OR BCom / B Tech in Supply Chain, Engineering or Logistics
    • 5+ years in Logistics Scheduling or Dispatch and Expediting Control experience
    • Experience in different loading / offloading methods applicable to transportation environment
    • Experience across explosives product groups
    • SAP TMS experience (Advantageous)
    • MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint, SAP (PSD)

    Responsibilities:

    • Schedule transport across the value chain, covering both stock transport orders and customer deliveries, local and cross-border
    • Compile optimal loading and delivery schedules
    • Source capacity and allocate loads to transporters, both own fleet and 3PLs, to ensure effective use of resources, customer service and cost containment
    • Generate SAP documentation, including shipments and loading instructions
    • Ensure transporters have the necessary documentation for loading, and that correct and valid transport permits are in place
    • Ensure supplier compliance with safety rules, business rules and scheduling parameters
    • Continuously track schedule execution and adherence
    • Conduct dynamic rescheduling and re-planning to accommodate constant changes in market or business requirements
    • Implement corrective controls to achieve schedule demands regardless of changing circumstances
    • Monitor demurrage charges from 3PLs
    • Continuously reduce cost and improve service levels within the constraints of business rules and safety requirements
    • Identify gaps and implement improvements to business and scheduling rules
    • Report on performance by tracking unit and truck outcomes against targets
    • Maintain the implemented unit operations plan by understanding key activities, projects and performance indicators, communicating objectives to relevant stakeholders, and monitoring execution daily
    • Monitor implementation of unit business processes by monitoring compliance, identifying process anomalies and executing corrective action as required
    • Drive effective utilisation and continuous development of unit systems
    • Adhere to company policies and procedures, and keep updated with newly implemented procedures
