Machine Maintenance at Phakisa Group

Job Purpose

• To perform preventative and corrective maintenance on production machinery and equipment ensuring optimal performance, minimal downtime, and supporting continuous production. Basic welding skills for minor repairs and fabrication are also required.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections, servicing, and preventative maintenance on production machinery.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical faults to minimize equipment downtime.
• Conduct minor fabrication and repair work using basic welding techniques.
• Replace worn or damaged machine components.
• Install, dismantle, and reassemble production equipment as required.
• Conduct lubrication, alignment, and mechanical adjustments on machinery.
• Maintain maintenance records and complete job cards accurately.
• Report equipment defects and recommend improvements.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and company maintenance procedures.
• Assist with machine installations, breakdowns, and planned shutdowns.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 (Matric).
• Maintenance qualification or relevant technical certification advantageous.
• 2-5 years' maintenance experience in manufacturing or production.
• Basic welding skills (MIG, ARC, or CO₂ welding) for repairs and fabrication.
• Experience with hand and power tools.
• Ability to read and interpret basic technical drawings.
• Physically fit and able to work in an industrial environment.
• Willingness to work shifts, overtime, and standby when required.
